Piston Ring Service & The Winnipeg Free Press

Thursday, July 15th NASCAR Driver's Kenny Wallace, Kenny Schrader, Michael Waltrip, and Sterling Marlin will join the Manitoba Stock Car Racing Series at Red River Co-op Speedway and will be competing against our local drivers.  Racing Divisions competing this Thursday night include the Super Trucks, Super Stocks, Modifieds and Late Models.  The Street Stocks and Lightning Sprint Division will be taking the night off.  Gates open at 5:00pm.  Autograph Session starts at 6:30pm and will go for approximately 1 hour.  The NASCAR Driver's Racing Event is proudly sponsored by Piston Ring Service and The Winnipeg Free Press.

The biggest Wissota Modified event of the year will heat up Red River Co-op Speedway on Thursday, August 5th. The 1st Annual "Big Al" Delaine Memorial race boasts an incredible $12,000.00 guaranteed feature payout including a $2000.00 pay day to the winner.  Additional contingency prizes and awards increase the purse to $15,000.00!  READ MORE... $22,925.00 TOTAL PURSE PAYOUT for the 6th Annual Gerald Balcaen Memorial Race in Winnipeg on Wednesday September 8th at 7:30pm.

In the past years it has mainly been an increase to the Super Stock purse as that is the class raced by George Balcaen in memory of his dad, Gerald Balcaen.  This year in June a fundraising golf tournament was held and raised a fair amount of cash.  It was great to have so many people come out that knew Gerald Balcaen and without their support this wouldn' t happen every year.

That being said this year's race will showcase the 3 top classes only for a nice quick evening.  The Modifieds, Super Stocks and Lates Models will run with a combined purse of nearly $ 23,000.00.

This race was scheduled purposley on the Wednesday prior to the John Seitz Memorial in Grand Forks in the hope that some of the Late Model guys may want to head a couple hours North prior to that race.
